3.5" Goniatite Ammonite polished fossil from Morocco.  This fossil shows the white Calcite crystal replaced chambers of the Goniatite Ammonite within the dark matrix rock, carboniferous limestone.  Goniatites are ammonoid cephalopods that evolved during the middle Devonian around 390 million years ago.  They thrived for millions of years through the end of the Permian.  As it grew, it added newer and larger chambers to the open end of the spiral.  Only the last and largest chamber was occupied by the living animal at any given moment.  A great fossil specimen for display, collection, and study.
