:   An interesting item: Although technically this stamp was first issued on August 13, 1928 with official first day covers bearing postmarks of either Honolulu, Hawaii or Washington DC, here we have a cover with the 5c overprint pair nicely tied to the cover by a Kohala, Hawaii  - AUG 14, 1928 cancel - which I suspect was the earliest such usage from this particular Hawaiian location; note too the Kohala reference and August 14, 1928 date in the return address; the cover is addressed to Rev. James Walker in Kapaau, Hawaii, T.H.; cover with small faults. See scan(s) for additional details.
