Description
This Antique Chinese Chest is known as Official Stationery Chest. These chests were commonly used by high-ranking officials as storage of personal stationery items like paper pamphlets, paint brush etc. throughout Ming Qing Dynasty in China. The design bears a typical Ming style with simple and straight lines. The snap-fit lid on top of the chest covers a storage space with four drawers underneath. The copper hardware on this chest is delicately made. The chest was handcrafted and structured with wooden pegs and tenon structure, which is the very traditional craftsmanship for furniture making in ancient China. Circa early of 19th century. Original patina and wear. The chest is made of Elm wood selected by its beautiful wood grain. Embossed copper hardware is original. Excellent condition.Size: W14.5" x D11" X H15.25"
