Up for auction is a beautiful decorative plate made from a polished piece of fossilized substrate. I believe the fossil material was sourced from China but I'm not positive. I purchased this plate several years ago, new, from seashell dealer Donald Dan and he obtains many of his decorative items for sale from China. There are many different fossilized mollusks in the substrate, including ammonites (relatives of the Chambered Nautilus). This plate measures 12" in diameter and is in excellent, gently displayed, condition. The rim measures 2.5" before a gentle slope to the center of the plate.
