Hello, here is a very well defined and 100% natural Kosmoceras?? Pyrite Ammonite fossil or Pyritized Ammonite fossil that has been polished on one side! It has deep hollow chambers full of tiny shiny Druzy Pyrite crystals and was quarried near the city of Saratov, Russia on the Volga River.
It is WAY nicer in person as it is difficult to get all of the true colors to show up in the photos! This piece has very fine definition with a shinny GOLD color and dates to the Upper Jurassic Period a Crazy! 161 to 145 Million years ago.
This Fossil measures a nice! 5.9cm or 2 3/8" at its biggest.
Please note that this fossil has no restoration...just split out of its host matrix with a hammer cut and polished.
