PYRITIZED AMMONITE .9 Inches Jurassic

Hi all!
This is a Pyritized Ammonite from the Late Jurassic (163-145 million years) of either Russia or France! It measures about .9 inches across! Ammonites are cephalopods, like squid and octopi, except they had shells. Ammonites lived from 416 million years to 65 million years ago when they went extinct with the dinosaurs. Scientists have documented over 10,000 species of ammonite! During fossilization, the minerals of the ammonite shell were replaced with Pyrite! The piece is polished on one side revealing fantastic chambers filled with Druzy Pyrite!
