Condition: We carefully examine this item. The cork carvings and cuttings appear to all be in place and attached as made. No loose or broken pieces were noted. The interior encasement appears in overall clean conditon. There are several tiny bumps on the top backside edge of the frame (see photograph #5) and there is one small sliver of lacquer that appears missing on the lower right side of the frame towards the pagoda side. It appears as a light color in the photographs. Please take the time to carefully examine all the photographs for more details. Vintage Chinese Carved & Cut - CORK LANDSCAPE DIORAMA - 5-3/4" x 9" - Exceptionally Nice!
Being offered for your consideration is a table or shelf size Chinese carved & cut Cork Landscape Diorama. This diorama allows a front and back view of the lovely landscape including pine trees, herons and a charming pagoda structure with porches situated partially in the water and against a rocky hillside amongst more trees. Very nice details that fill the small space beautifully! The rectangular glass and wood section is removable from the stand for ease in viewing both sides. The frame and stand are covered with a dark lacquer material that is in very good condition. We acquired this item at one of the many Collector Fairs back in the 1990's and have had it displayed on our home over the years protected from direct sunlight which can dry the cork inside and make it brittle. The stand has two labels on the underside. The larger label reads "
HERITAGE INDUSTRIES LTD. / Item No. 887 / Made in China
". The other label is partial and has a single Chinese character mark which we are unable to decipher. Overall, the diorama is in excellent shape.
